Ahmednagar: Sena holds protests against killing of two leaders

Shiv Sena workers today staged protests in Ahmednagar against the killing of two party leaders on Saturday and imposed a bandh in Kedgaon and parts of the city, located around 240 kms away from the state capital.

"Around 600 activists of the party were booked today by police for protests and bandh under section 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and various sections of rioting of the IPC," said Ahmednagar superintendent of police Ranjankumar Sharma.

The saffron activists staged protests in Kedgaon and some parts of Ahmednagar today wherein they blocked roads, he said.

 

Two motorcycle-borne assailants had shot dead Sanjay Kotkar (35) and Vasant Thube (40) in Shahunagar area of Kedgaon, hours after the result of a civic bypoll in the area was announced.The bypoll was won by a Congress candidate.

Police yesterday arrested Ahmednagar NCP MLA Sangram Jagtap and three others, including a suspected shooter, in connection with the crime.

Police have set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the killings.
