Six kg of gold allegedly smuggled from Dubai was seized and an off-duty Air India hostess and her friend were taken into custody in this connection at the Karipur International Airport here today, officials said.
The gold was found kept concealed in cloth and tied around the waist of the air hostess and her woman friend hailing from Kannur during customs check on their arrival by Air India Express Dubai-Kozhikode flight, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials said.
The air hostess was on leave and returning from Dubai after a personal visit, they said.
The seized gold was valued approximately at Rs 1.84 crore.
