AIADMK (Amma) MLA seeks holiday for Mahashivarathri in TN

A ruling AIADMK (Amma) legislator today appealed to the state government to consider declaring Maha Shivarathri as a public holiday in Tamil Nadu.

During the question hour today, Coimbatore South MLA Amman K Arjunan said the festival was a public holiday in about 15 states.

In response, Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, Sevur S Ramachandran said the matter will be taken to the attention of Chief Minister K Palaniswami and considered.
