AIADMK today celebrated its 45th founding day, with its Presidium Chairman E Madhusudhanan garlanding a statue of party founder M G Ramachandran and releasing a souvenir to mark the occasion.

Although party supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa leads the celebrations every year, this time she could not do so since the 68-year-old leader is indisposed and undergoing medical treatment at a hospital here since September 22.
A charismatic actor, Ramachandran floated AIADMK in 1972 following his expulsion from DMK in the wake of differences with its chief M Karunanidhi.
