A 32-year old local AIADMK functionary, who was injured in an accident, died at a private hospital here today, triggering protest by his supporters who alleged he was treated by nurses based on the advice given by doctor after studying his scan reports sent over smart phone.
Ranjithkumar, a functionary of Annadhanapatti AIADMK unit and Secretary of MGR Mandram, was injured when his two-wheeler collided with another bike when he was on his way to distribute leaflets on the eve of the birth anniversary of late Chief Minister and AIADMK founder M G Ramachandran, popularly known as MGR, police said.
He was rushed to the private hospital by two police personnel in an auto rickshaw. It was alleged that no doctor was present at that time and nurses took a scan and x-ray, sent the reports using smart phone to the hospital doctor and gave treatment based on his advice.

They questioned why the 108 ambulance service was not used and why he was taken to a private hospital.
Top police officials rushed to the spot and pacified the crowd, police said.
