Supporters of AICC member and former Union Minister P Chidambaram's son Karti today welcomed the high command reportedly pulling up TNCC president E V K S Elangovan for some of his remarks against the two and said it was a "relief".
"We came to know from the media that AICC said it cannot accept the statements made by the TNCC president. AICC's action has come as a relief to us," they said in a press release.
Over 40 Karti supporters, who are state, district functionaries and former party legislators signed the release in which they said recent incidents and remarks by the TNCC president had "hurt" them.

Soon after former Environment Minister Jayanthi Natarajan quit Congress last Friday, Elangovan had said the party would certainly "attain salvation if one more person quit along with his heir," a taunt apparently aimed at Chidambaram and Karti.
Posters against Elangovan for his veiled attack on them surfaced yesterday in Erode, his home district. They carried pictures of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Chidambaram and Karti alongside criticising Elangovan for his 'derogatory' remarks against 'some Congress leaders.'
An English daily today had reported that Elangovan was called to Delhi for his remarks.
"The report is completely wrong. I came to Delhi to campaign for the Delhi Assembly polls," Elangovan told a TV channel in the national capital today.
