The department of AIDS control is among the 28 central government organisations which have got ISO certification, a global recognition for quality management, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said today.

The performance management division of Cabinet Secretariat, Departments of Public Enterprises, AIDS control, Personnel and Training are ISO 9001 certified, he said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.

The Department of Sports (NADA), Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Information and Broadcasting Ministry, Steel Ministry, Coal Ministry and Department of Heavy Industry are also ISO certified, Singh said.

"Implementation of ISO 9001 was included as an indicator in the Results Framework Document (RFD) of the ministries or departments which were subject to RFD process as part of Performance Monitoring and Evaluation System (PMES) earlier," the Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office said.

ISO 9001 is an internationally recognised quality management system standard published by ISO (International Organisation of Standardisation). It provides a framework for managing an organisation's quality process.
