CPI-M's All India Democratic Women's Association today sought a ban on a song rendered by Tamil film actor Silambarasan, claiming it was "vulgar" in nature and "denigrating" women.

Some members of AIDWA, led by local secretary Amuda, submitted a petition to the City Police Commissioner, A Amalraj, and demanded that stringent action be taken against the actor and the song's music director Anirudh Ravichander, of "Kolaveri Di" fame, police said.

Amuda claimed that there were words describing both men and women in a vulgar and colloquial manner and denigrating women.
