The Forward Bloc's Hooghly district conference at Goghat had to be stopped midway yesterday after the TMC staged protests demanding apology from Biswas for the remarks.
Forward Bloc district chief Nripen Chatterjee said the 2-day conference had to be called off "since the police refused to provide any security in the face of the TMC demonstration".
Trinamool Congress activists shouted slogans near the conference venue that they would not tolerate any such insult.
Chatterjee said, "If there is no security, how can we hold our conference?"
Biswas admitted to having used "certain language" and said it should not have been used by him at the rally and begged apology "from the people for causing anger and misunderstanding".
However, the AIFB general secretary alleged that confusion had been created due to publication of only a part of his speech at the rally.
In a statement in Kolkata today, Biswas said he had sought to project the role of TMC in the backdrop of the prevailing market economy.
"I tried to highlight how Trinamool Congress made an unprincipled compromise with either BJP or Congress which, in effect, provided support to the anti-people market economy," he said.
