AIIMS inks MoU with US university to boost medical research

Research efforts by AIIMS is all set to receive a fillip after it today signed an MoU for collaboration with the University of Michigan Health System.

"AIIMS will immensely benefit from this collaboration in gastroenterology, liver, paediatric surgery, acute care surgery, organ transplantation.

"Our efforts are to jointly attract national and international funding," said AIIMS Director Mahesh C Misra, who signed the MoU with University of Michigan President, Mary Sue Coleman.

The first MoU between the two institutions was signed in March, 2012, and covered trauma care.

"The aim is to develop a robust platform for collaboration that will facilitate research on diseases common to both our countries and strengthen our abilities in healthcare," said Joseph Kolars, the Michigan Medical School's Senior Associate Dean.
