The activists of AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC) today clashed with the police after district administration tried to remove them forcibly from hunger strike venue here.
The agitators resisted move of the district authorities, which removed tents and all hoardings, to vacate the venue here forcing them to clash with police.
Police Force led by Additional Deputy Commissioner Rifat Kohli asked Chairman of ACC and Jammu Bar Association (JBA) President Abhinav Sharma to vacate the venue of the huger strike at Tawi bridge area here in view of the security reasons.
"Please vacate the area as there are security reasons. You have move to some other place after taking due permission", ADC told Sharma, who disagreed and turned down request as he blamed BJP Ministers for dislodging the movement of AIIMS in Jammu.
"We will continue dharna and hunger strike here without any permission", Sharma said.
Later large police teams forcibly removed ACC hoardings, banners and tents put up at dharna and hunger strike venue.
ACC activists led by its chairman resisted the move resulting in minor clashes with police before all these hoardings, tents banners and chairs were put in police trucks and removed.
Amid anti-BJP and anti-government slogans, Sharma told reporters that it was a deliberate ploy of BJP and government to dislodge ACC from going ahead with chain hunger strike till the issuance of notification of setting up a full fledged AIIMS in Jammu.
"Centre has not issued any notification for setting up of AIIMS so far. That is why hunger strike is on and we will go ahead with it", he said.
While our AIIMS hoarding have been removed on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Jammu Simrandeep Singh, new big hoardings have come up on Tawi bridge of BJP and its ministers claiming grant of AIIMS to be-fool people of Jammu, Sharma said.
The AIIMS Coordination Committee, an amalgam of over 70 social, religious, political and business organisations, on August 5 evening announced suspension of Jammu bandh call after Centre began identification of 200 acres of land for separate AIIMS in Jammu.
