Ailing leopard rescued in Chamoli

A two-and-a-half-year-old ailing leopard was today rescued from the forests of Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, officials said.

The leopard was traced in Gopeshwar forest range near Mandal village of the district this morning, Range Officer Munawwar Singh Rana said.

The forest guards rescued it and took it in a cage at Gopeshwar veterinary hospital, Rana said, adding, it has been discharged from there as its condition is stated to be stable.

It has been kept at the residence of divisional forest officer of Kedarnath Wildlife division under the supervision of vets and forest guards and will be released into the wild after total recovery, Rana added.
