An Air Force officer has been arrested, along with his parents, for allegedly harassing and assaulting his wife for dowry, police said today.

Flight Lieutenant Akash Singh, posted at the Halwara Air Force Station in Punjab, was arrested yesterday for allegedly harassing and beating up his wife for dowry.

A case against Singh was registered by his wife on March 23 and he was arrested yesterday when he was visiting his home after preliminary investigation, Banipark women police station SHO Samaydeen Khan said.

He has been booked under sections 498 (A) (subjecting woman to cruelty by husband), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 323 (causing hurt) of the IPC and is on five-day police custody, the SHO said, adding that his parents have also been arrested in this connection.

Singh's wife Shruti Rathore alleged in the FIR that her in-laws had been demanding dowry and her husband used to beat her up.
