The 86th anniversary of the Indian air force was celebrated Monday at the air force stations at Tambaram, near here, and in Thanjavur.
The Tambaram station, a premier training establishment, celebrated the occasion with a wide range of activities spread over a week for the personnel and family members, a press release said.
Display of aircraft and weapon systems, besides quiz, essay and drawing competitions and an inter-unit sports meet were held as part of the celebrations, the release said.
All personnel of the station and its lodger units were administered an oath by air commodore MS Awana, air officer commanding at Tambaram, it said.
In the Thanjavur station, the anniversary was celebrated with a series of activities since the first week of this month, and with a pledge-taking parade on Monday, the release said.
Group captain Prajual Singh, station commander, appreciated the air warriors for accomplishing the allocated tasks effectively and efficiently, it said.
"The group captain asked the air warriors to shoulder responsibility with fortitude and dedication with an endeavour to achieve high operational capability and preparedness at all times," the release added.
