Air India chief Ashwani Lohani has been empanelled to hold Secretary-level posts in the central government.
Lohani is a 1980 batch officer of Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME). He was in August last year appointed as Chairman and Managing Director of Air India Ltd.
The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved empanelment of Lohani to hold the post of a secretary or its equivalent in the Government of India, an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training said.
Besides him, six other officers-- three of Indian Audit and Accounts Service, two of Indian Revenue Service and one belonging to Indian Forest Service-- have been empanelled as secretaries, it said.
