Air India suspends pilot for holding fake degree

National carrier Air India has suspended a pilot after one of his educational documents was allegedly found fake.

The pilot has been suspended and further disciplinary action initiated against him, an Air India spokesperson said.

He had allegedly acquired a fake degree from a university in Bihar after failing the HSC exam, sources said.

The matter was investigated by both the aviation regulator and Air India after being brought to the notice of the authorities concerned.

"The degree, during the verification, was found to be fake following which he has been suspended," the sources said.

The airline has informed the DGCA of its action against the Commander, the spokesperson said.
