National carrier Air India today said it will connect the national capital with the Gujarat town Rajkot from February 23 through a weekly flight.
The airline will deploy its new 70-seater ATR-72-600 on this route, the airline said, adding the flight will leave Delhi at 0550 hrs and arrive at Rajkot at 0815 hrs. It will depart for Delhi at 0845 hrs to land back at 1110 hrs.
With the operation of this flight Rajkot, which is the largest gold market in the country apart from being a leading market for silk embroidery and watch parts, will be connected directly to Delhi and Mumbai.
The airline also said it will also doubling the frequency of its CRJ jet flights on the Delhi-Surat-Delhi route from three flights a week to six flights a week, or increasing the capacity to 840 seats.
