Air Marshal RKS Shera is new SMSO at IAF's Maintenance Command

Air Marshal RKS Shera took over as the senior maintenance staff officer (SMSO) at city-based Maintenance Command headquarters of the India Air Force (IAF).

Shera, an alumnus of National Defence College and Naval War College, took charge on Friday, a release issued by Defence PRO said.

Shera was commissioned in aeronautical engineering electronics branch of IAF in 1981.

A post graduate from IIT Kanpur in electrical engineering, he was trained in Russia on the MiG-29 aircraft at the time of fleet induction in 1986, it added.

Shera, a recipient of 'Ati Vishisht Seva Medal' and 'Vishisht Seva Medal', was assistant chief of air staff (Eng A) at Air headquarters before taking over as deputy SMSO and subsequently SMSO at the HQ Maintenance Command, the statement added.
 
Prior to that, the air officer has held several important command and staff assignments, it said.
