Air passenger caught smuggling 700 gms of gold powder in

Nearly 700 gms of gold powder worth Rs 26 lakh was seized from a passenger who arrived here today by an Air Arabia flight, airport sources said.

The customs officials intercepted the passenger hailing from Kerala, after he was seen moving in a suspicious manner at the international airport here around 4.30 AM.

On verification, the gold powder worth Rs 26.34 lakh was found concealed in a fake bandage on both his legs, Air Port sources said.

Officials are yet to ascertain the exact quantity of the gold powder, the sources said.

The gold was meant to be sold in Kerala market with a profit margin, they said.
