"Though the NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) was for two hours between 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, the airport was opened for operations from 1:45 PM for departures while arrivals started from 2:03 PM," airport sources said.
Over 30 departures and around 20 arrivals of domestic and international flights were rescheduled.
The sudden announcement of closure, which was issued late last evening, had given little time to reschedule their flights, especially some of those incoming international ones. Departures from the IGI Airport were re-scheduled by them.
"We received the NOTAM around 8 AM today. We have had to reschedule the arrivals and departures to and from Delhi," an airline official said, adding, "We were under tremendous pressure as we also had to inform the passengers about the rescheduling of their flights."
According to officials, the closure was carried out for re-calibration of the radar communication system of the IAF.
