Airtel Africa appoints Andrew Kossowski as CIO

Bharti Airtel today appointed Andrew Kossowski as Chief Information Officer for its pan-Africa network of 17 countries.

Kossowski takes over from George Fanthome and the appointment will be effective from May 15, the company said in a statement.

"Kossowski will be instrumental in driving the IT strategy for our Africa business through a strong central team of subject-matter-experts, whilst building superior execution capabilities within all the 17 countries that we operate in," Airtel Africa CEO Christian de Faria said.

Samsung inks pact with MSME Ministry for digital training * Samsung has partnered Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) to train students on the Korean electronics major's Tizen mobile operating system.
 

The two entities are already jointly running the Samsung Digital Academy under an agreement signed in August last year for offering vocational training in technology, especially in areas like development and testing.

"India is a key player in the next generation technology ecosystem. It is important that we tap the young population to propel this growth... The partnership aims to enable young Indians to become entrepreneurs and developers," MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra told reporters here at the signing of the MoU.

Chola ties up with Escorts

* Financial services company Cholamandalam Investment and Finance (Chola) today said it has tied up with Escorts Ltd, an engineering major, for retail finance of the latter's construction equipment products.

"The tie-up with Escorts draws out mutual synergies with Chola being able to offer financing options over a wider range of products to its customers, and Escorts standing to gain from our pan-India presence and access to over 5 lakh customers," Chola's Managing Director Vellayan Subbiah said in a release.
