Airtel to sponsor Goa's Pro Football League

Goa's Professional Football League which commenced on August 5, has roped in Bharti Airtel as the new title sponsor for 2013-14 season.

The sponsorship will also extend to the lower divisions, along with support for the state football team and the promotion of a beach football tournament.

The rechristened 'Airtel Goa Professional League' has also attracted Imperial Blue as an associate sponsor, and Adamo The Bellus as the new hospitality partner.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Ganapathy, Hub CEO, Airtel (Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat) said, "Airtel has always promoted football in India and has successfully created a huge platform like Airtel Rising Stars to hone the skills of aspiring enthusiasts.
 

The Airtel Pro League will feature 10 teams who will play a round-robin league in the first phase. Salgaocar FC, Dempo SC, Churchill Brothers SC, Sporting Clube de Goa, Sesa Football Academy, Velha SC, Margao SC, Calangute Association, Cavellosim SC and Tuff Laxmi Prasad SC are the teams in contention.

Top five teams from phase one will play in the super league, while the bottom five teams will play in the relegation league. All the matches of the first phase will be played at the Duler Stadium, Mapusa.

The team finishing first in the super league will get prize of Rs 2.5 lakh, while the runner-up will be richer by Rs 1.5 lakh.
