All-India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Siddiqullah Chowdhury today met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to discuss, among other things, issues related to the development of the minorities in the state.
Speaking to reporters after his hour-long meeting with Banerjee, Chowdhury said that the chief minister had sought his cooperation to create a situation where everybody could work in a congenial atmosphere for social and economic development of the minorities in West Bengal.
"The state government has done something for the minorities, but many more things are yet to be done. Anyway, I am ready to cooperate with the state government," he said.

Asked, meanwhile, if the meeting was groundwork for a political understanding ahead of the Assembly elections in the state next year, Chowdhury said, "The time is not ripe for such speculation as the election will be held after almost 10 months."
Chowdhury also assured Banerjee of his cooperation for the development of the state saying that people want real development and the Muslim community was also hopeful for the same.
