Ajit Singh meets Ahluwalia, discusses PPP model for airports

State-run Airports Authority of India (AAI) is developing airports at Chennai and Kolkata at costs of Rs 2,100 crore and Rs 2,350 crore respectively. Chennai airport is likely to be operational by June while that in Kolkata is likely by October.

The Minister also discussed, with Ahluwalia and Gajendra Haldea, Advisor in the Planning Commission, the issue of development of four new airports at Navi Mumbai, Goa, Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh and Kunnur in Kerala under the PPP model, official sources said.

The Planning Commission has assured all help to the Ministry, they said.

The proposals would now be taken up by the Minister with the Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure (CCI), the sources said.
