Over a dozen office bearers of a Jammu and Kashmir-based workers' union, including its chief, joined the BJP here on Monday.

Members of the All Jammu and Kashmir Labour and Workers Union (AJKLWU) joined the BJP at a function presided over by party general secretary (organisation) Ashok Kaul at its headquarters here.

The BJP has worked for the welfare of everyone without prejudice and has earned the love and faith of the masses, Kaul said.

Kaul welcomed the members of the union into the BJP and said the party has earned the trust and respect of people across regions and religions.

The Congress and other certain regional parties have rightfully earned the wrath of the public and they have lost their base quite fast in the whole of J&K, he claimed.

Those who joined the BJP said a strong government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah has made them believe that India is marching towards a golden era.

AJKLWU J&K chief Mahjoor Ahmed Khan, vice-president Sabdar Ali Khan, general secretary Abdul Rashid Dar and finance secretary Bashir Ahmed Khan were among those who joined the saffron party.
