"It is highly condemnable that a temple was demolished in Karachi. It is against the fundamentals of Islam and a setback to secular image of the Muslim community. Islam does not allow anyone to damage a religious place," Khan said here.
He appealed to the Indian government to take up the matter with Islamabad and lodge a protest over the matter.
"Government of India should take up the matter and lodge a protest with the Pakistan government," Khan said.
Asking the Pakistan government to ensure religious freedom of country's minority community, Khan demanded punishment for those behind razing of the religious structure.
"It is surprising that the temple was demolished despite the fact that the matter is in court. Pakistan government should be sensitive to such issues which may disturb peace," he said.
Khan also asked the Pakistan government to enact a law to ensure security of religious places.
The century-old temple in Karachi was hurriedly demolished last Saturday by a builder despite a Pakistani court hearing a petition seeking a stay on such a move.
It had led to protests by the minority Hindu community.
