The announcement, which came close on the heels of the five-member AJSU legislature party helping JMM candidate Sanjeev Kumar win in the May 3 Rajya Sabha elections, was made by the party's president Sudesh Mahto after a party meeting here.
AJSU is one of the alliance partners in the Arjun Munda-led BJP/JMM/JDU government in Jharkhand.
Hatia is one of the 27 Assembly constituencies across the country going to bypoll, the notification for which would be made by the Election Commission on May 18.
The last date of filing nominations is scheduled for May 25 while the scrutiny will take place the next day and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is May 28.
The bypoll in Hatia will be held to fill a vacancy caused by the death of Congress MLA Gopal Sharan Nath Sahdeo in 2010.
