Akademi Fellowships for Veerendrakumar, Zacharia

Well-known writer and Chairman and Managing Director of Malayalam daily Mathrubhumi M P Veerendrakumar and Paul Zacharia have been selected for the Kerala Sahitya Akademi's Fellowships for 2012.

They have been chosen for their overall contribution to the growth and development of Malayalam language and literature, Akademi President Perumbadavam Sreedharan told reporters here today.

The fellowships carry a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a 16-gram gold pendant, a plaque and a testimonial each.

Noted litterateurs K M Govy, K P Sankaran, Karoor Shasi and G Priyadarshan have also been selected for the Akademi's 'Puraskars' which carry Rs 30,000, testimonial and a plaque each, Sreedharan said.
 

Renowned writer and film-critic I Shanmughadas bagged the KSA's Vilasini Puraskar for the year 2012.
