Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh today excommunicated Virginia-based five Sikh priests for their "wilful blasphemous" acts.

In an edict passed here, the Jathedar, excommunicated Kuldeep Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Amarjit Singh, Rajinder Singh and Amarjit Singh Narula.

The decision was taken against these priests after a marathon meeting of Sikh clergy as they were found guilty of "willful blasphemous" act, he said.

He said the excommunicated priests were given June 4 deadline to appear before the Sikh clergy but they "wilfully" failed to come.

He said the Sikh community across the world would boycott these people and would not allow them to take part in any religious ceremony in any of the Gurdwaras.
