Press Trust of India Amritsar
The Akal Takht, top temporal seat of Sikhs, today summoned former DSGMC president Paramjit Singh Sarna to appear before it for allegedly creating hurdles in the construction of a memorial in Delhi in the memory of the Sikhs killed in the 1984 riots.

The decision to summon former president of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) to Akal takht was taken during a marathon meeting of five Sikh head priests here.

However, the date on which Sarna has to appear before Akal Takht will be decided at the next meeting of head priests to be held soon.

Akal Takht head Gurbachan Singh chaired the meeting on the Akal Takht premises.

The Sikh head priests have asked Sarna to give clarification in person before them at Akal Takht as to why he hurt the feelings of the community by approaching the Court of law.

Singh alleged that Sarna has wilfully committed "blasphemous act" against the Sikh community by moving in the court of law to stop the construction of memorial being made in the memory of Sikhs who lost lives during November 1984 anti Sikh riots in Delhi.

Sarna had recently moved High Court with the logic that the proposed memorial should not be allowed to be constructed inside Gurdwara Rakabganj as announced by DSGMC president Manjit Singh GK.
