Pune's Akash Dingare won the title in the Novice category and S Manthanakumar of Tiruchirapalli in the open section of the First round of the Yamaha-YZF-R15 One Make Race Championship held at Kari Motor Speedway here, today.
With 45 participants in the Novice category and 19 qualifying for the race, Akash outclassed others to win the Championship, followed by Muralidharan as first runners-up and P K Mithunkumar and second runner-up (both from Chennai).
In the open category, Manthanakumar won the race from 18 qualifiers among 25 participants, with M Sudhakar becoming first runner-up and D Dineshkumar second runner-up (both belong to Chennai).
While the second round of the championship will be held at Chennai, the 3rd, 4th and 5th and final round would be held in Delhi, Coimbatore and Chennai respectively.
The winners of the R15 One Make Championship will get a chance to participate in the Yamaha ASEAN Cup to be held later this year, venue of which would be decided soon.
