Akhilesh asks Centre for extension of metro rail service in UP

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has requested the Centre to approve the projects that would enable extension of the Delhi metro rail service to areas of Uttar Pradesh.

In a letter to Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath, Akhilesh has requested the approval for three metro rail projects - Dilshad Garden to New Bus Station in Ghaziabad, Kalindi Kunj to Botanical Garden in Noida and from Noida to Greater Noida.

Akhilesh has told the Union minister that the above projects would serve to contribute to development in Uttar Pradesh, a release here said.

He said the UP government had already informed Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) that it would bear its share in the implementation of the Dilshad Garden-New Bus Station corridor.
 

It was due to the efforts of the UP government that the DMRC had prepared the three projects, the release reports Akhilesh as saying in the letter.

He further states that the UP government has already apprised the secretary of the Central ministry of its in-principle consent for the above projects.
