Taking a serious note of the farmer suicides in the state, apparently due to crop loss by recent untimely rain and hailstorm, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today asked officials to find out the reasons behind the deaths and ensure necessary relief to their families.

The chief minister wants all administrative officials, including District Magistrates, to personally find out the facts behind suicide by farmers to ensure that their families get necessary relief and justice, an official statement here said.

Yadav reiterated that his government was sensitive towards farmers' interests and is taking action to help them.

The chief minister has already released Rs 200 crore from state's contingency fund for providing relief to farmers affected by rains and hailstorm, it said.
