Akhilesh calls upon engineers to check flood problem in UP

Lauding the contribution of engineers for different technological developments taking place the world over, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today exhorted them to suggest ways and means for checking the recurring problem of floods in the state.

"Engineers should think about how to free the state of the recurring problem of floods, all know that large parts of the state face it because of the rivers originating in Nepal.. We cannot make bridges or embankments on it and engineers should suggest alternative techniques to provide relief from this problem," the chief minister said while addressing Engineers day function here.
 

An environmental engineer himself, Yadav said engineers will also have to come forward and provide maximum benefits to the people by using today's techniques in construction of big buildings, good roads, and large stadiums.

Commemorating the services of Bharat Ratna Visheshvaraiya whose birth anniversary is celebrated as Engineers Day, Yadav said growth and development cannot be envisaged without engineers and called upon them to help bring Uttar Pradesh ahead on the map of the world.

On the occasion, he also mentioned the ambitious Agra-Lucknow Expressway project saying the completion of this project would not only bring about a change in the economic condition of the state but also that of the country.
