In a veiled attack on BSP supremo Mayawati, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said that while a bicycle is a conveyance for both rich and the poor, one can sit on an elephant but can't ride it.
His remarks come a day after the BSP chief sought to ridicule Akhilesh by saying the chief minister besides riding a bicycle, had nothing else to do.
"Some opposition leaders say that I do not have any work except cycling. At least, any chief minister is riding a cycle," he said.

"Now Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also suggesting everyone to ride a bicycle at least a day in a week," he said.
Taking potshots at Mayawati without taking her name, Akhilesh said, her dislike is not from cycles but something else.
"Some persons are afraid that cycle did not reach their home. Cyle is a vehicle for poor and rich. You can sit on an elephant but cannot ride it" he added.
BSP supremo Mayawati had yesterday ridiculed Akhilesh for encouraging use of bicycles.
"Akhilesh has nothing to do. If he does not ride a cycle, what else will he do,"she said.
Ruling SP's election symbol is a 'cycle' while elephant is the symbol of BSP.
