However, there was no report of any untoward incident so far from any part of Assam, police sources said.
AKRSU had called the bandh protesting the alleged harassment of student leaders and youths belonging to the Koch Rajbongshi community by the police in name of finding those responsible for the abduction and murder of Agriculture department executive engineer Gadapani Pathak in May.
Officials said the bandh was complete in Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon and Chirang districts. Shops and business establishment remained closed.
Massive security arrangements were made in the three districts.
The bandh affected vehicular traffic on roads, including National Highway 37.
It also impacted life in some parts of the Nalbari district, where some bandh supporters were taken into custody.

Similarly Dhubri and Goalpara district in the southern bank of Brahmaputra were also affected to a large extent.
The bandh, which will get over at 5 am tomorrow morning, did not have any response in the districts of upper Assam and Barak Valley.
Pathak was allegedly killed by suspected Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) militants.
