AkzoNobel today said it has opened a new production facility in Thane, near Mumbai, built at an investment of Rs 14.5 crore to manufacture coatings for the metal packaging and flexible packaging industries.
"AkzoNobel opened a new production facility in Thane, India to manufacture coatings for the metal packaging and flexible packaging industries built at an investment of Rs 145 million," the company said in a statement.
The facility will cater to company's customers in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Southeast Asia, the company said in a statement.

AkzoNobel India Managing Director Jayakumar Krishnaswamy said: "For packaging coatings, we expect vigorous growth in South Asia to continue into the foreseeable future, so it makes good business sense to invest in production facilities to meet market demand."
This production facility has a capacity of 5000 tons a year, the company said.
