Marking an important chapter in their journey towards the mainstream society, over 40 convicts from three correctional homes presented their 100th stage show mentored by danseuse-activist Alakananda Roy.

Alakananda, fondly called 'Maa' by the prisoners told PTI after last night's show Dhrubojyoti Tumi Jishu ((Oh Jesus! You the Guiding Star), "It was more than therapeutic feeling for them since at one point of time perhaps they did not foresee such a day will come into their lives.

"Both groups turned very emotional after the show as thousands clapped in the auditorium and it would be wrong to look at them as prisoners any more. They are stage performers like others and we have at least five shows lined up till March in the city," the celebrated dancer said.
