"Sex & the City" creator Darren Star has revealed he wanted Alec Baldwin to play Mr Big in the series.
The writer/director felt sure Baldwin was the perfect choice to play Carrie Bradshaw's love interest - until he met Chris Noth, reported Entertainment Weekly.
"I was thinking of Alec Baldwin for Big initially but I met with Chris Noth and thought he was perfect. I remember the first table read, how good he was. I'm not saying that Chris was Mr Big, but he brought a lot of his own persona to the role," Star said.

And Star says he wasn't initially sold on John Corbett as Carrie's other love interest, Aidan Shaw.
"We initially were thinking about Aidan Quinn for Aidan, but I think he wasn't available. I loved John Corbett in 'Northern Exposure', and we were like, 'Well, what's John Corbett been up to?' He just had the laconic, dudish vibe."
But Quinn did inspire the role, as Star opted to name Corbett's character Aidan as a nod to the actor.
"We kept Aidan because we loved the name.
