Alert sounded at UP railway station after threat SMS

An alert was today sounded following an SMS threat to police that Akbarpur railway station in Ambedkar Nagar district would be blown up.

"A text message was received by me at 8 pm threatening to blow Akbarpur railway station," Superintendent of Police, Ambedkar Nagar, Umesh Srivastava said.

He said that other than Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force, additional force was rushed to the railway station and a search operation has been launched.

"The search is underway. We have almost checked everything, but nothing has been found so far," Srivastava said.

Following the threat the entire station area was cleared and shops were closed, he said.
