The district administration of Ambala on Saturday sounded an alert following heavy rain forecast in some parts of the northern region over the next 48 hours.

Deputy Commissioner Ambala Sharandeep Kaur Brar asked village sarpanches and patwaris to keep a close watch on the water level of rivers and ponds in their respective areas.

A team of the district disaster management authority has also been put on alert, Brar said.

The administration has taken all precautionary measures to deal with any flood like situation, she added.
