Alex C Joseph, who was arrested in Delhi on charges of violating provisions while importing luxury cars, was today remanded to judicial custody by the Principal Special Judge for CBI Cases.

Meanwhile, the Anti Corruption Bureau of CBI here in a statement said that it would seek his custody for further interrogation.

Earlier, the CBI officials today produced Joseph at Principal Special Judge for CBI cases here, after arresting the accused from a star hotel in Delhi on Saturday.

They had obtained a transit warrant from Duty Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Delhi, to take him to Chennai.

Joseph has been evading arrest, ever since the registration of the case against him and his multiple anticipatory bail petitions were also been rejected by the Madras High Court.

The investigating agency had also issued 'Look Out Circular' to all airports to arrest him.

CBI registered a case against Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials, Alex C Joseph and unknown others under various sections of the IPC and the PCA in 2013 for allegedly importing luxury cars through Indian sea ports violating various provisions and thereby caused loss to the tune of Rs.48.40 crore to the government.
