An Additional Superintendent of Police in Aligarh has been suspended on charges of dereliction of duty.

"Asharam Yadav, who was posted as ASP (Rural) in Aligarh, has been suspended and departmental action is proposed against him," IG (Law and Order) Amrendra Sengar told reporters here.

"During the suspension period, he will remain attached to the DGP office," Sengar added.

He said during Yadav's stint as ASP, 51 incidents of loot took place and 23 of them are unsolved.

Similarly, of the 33 murder cases, only 8 have been solved, he said.
