All 39 candidates of ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu today submitted their papers at an appointed auspicious time throughout the state as filing of nominations for April 24 Lok Sabha elections picked up momentum.
The Jayalalithaa-led party's candidate for the lone Lok Sabha seat in neighbouring Union territory of Puducherry and the nominee for Assembly byelection in city's Alandur segment also filed their nominations between 1.30 pm and 2.15 pm, considered auspicious time, party sources said.
Prominent among the AIADMK candidates are former Union minister M Thambidurai, who filed his nomination from Karur seeking a fifth term in the Lok Sabha, and J Jayavardhan, son of former Assembly Speaker D Jayakumar (South Chennai).
DMK candidate M Mathivanan (Thiruchirapalli), Congress' Mani Shankar Aiyar (Mayiladuthurai), BJP leaders L Ganesan (South Chennai) and H Raja (Sivaganga) and Aam Aadmi Party candidate Pushparayan contesting from Tuticorin were among those who filed their nominations today.
