BJP member H S Balli and Independent MLA Bharat Singh could not vote in the election that is witnessing a direct fight between Pranab Mukherjee and P A Sangma, who is backed by Opposition parties.

While Balli is hospitalised, Singh, who is affiliated to INLD, is recuperating after surviving a bid on his life.

All 45 MLAs of the ruling Congress cast their ballots, while 23 MLAs from the Opposition BJP also exercised their franchise at the polling station at the Delhi Assembly Complex here.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Speaker Yoganand Shastri, Leader of Opposition V K Malhotra and all six ministers cast their ballot.

The vote value of a Delhi MLA is 58 and Mukherjee is likely to garner 2610 vote value of the Congress MLAs while BJP-backed Sangma may get 1334 vote value.

All 10 votes of MPs from Delhi, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, and having a value of 7080 vote is also likely to go to Mukherjee as all belong to the Congress.

A number of police personnel were deployed to ensure the smooth conduct of the election.
