Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh today said that all citizens have constitutional rights to choose their religion.

"The constitution has given rights to each and everybody to select their religion according to his own will," the senior Congress leader said.

"If a Muslim is converted to Hinduism, then it is called 'ghar wapsi', but why it is called conversion, when a Hindu converts to Islam," Singh said.

He criticised the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led union government for not bringing "achche din".

"My feedback from Surat. Sales are down. Traders' said, Sir it is a recession here. Modiji (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) are you listening? Achche din (good days) have not yet come," Singh tweeted about his visit to Surat later.

However, Singh said that the textile and diamond industries of Surat are flourishing and employing lakhs of people from across the country.

"Wherever I go, to know the status of economy in the country, I always ask jewellers and cloth merchants how the economy is doing. It (Surat) also has a flourishing textile industry with six lakhs looms mostly in the Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. Most of the labourers are migrants from all over India," Singh tweeted.
