All Haryana urban local bodies to be ODF by Oct 2

The Haryana Government has set a target of making all 80 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the State Open Defecation Free (ODF) by October 2.

The target was discussed in a meeting of Union Urban Development officials led by Secretary Rajiv Gauba with senior Haryana officers led by Chief Secretary D S Dhesi.

Gauba appreciated the State Government's move to declare the state ODF by October 2, 2017, an official said.

The meeting had been called to to review the implementation of various centrally-sponsored schemes.

It was mentioned in the meeting that two Metro projects, including projects at Ballabhgarh and Bahadurgarh, are presently being implemented.
 

Similarly, other metro proposals including Metro connectivity from HUDA City Centre to Gurugram Railway Station or Sector 21, Dwarka, Narela to Kundli and metro connectivity between Faridabad and Gurugram, are under consideration.

It was also informed that under the Swachh Bharat Mission, over one lakh applications were received for individual household toilets, an official spokesman said here.

Work has commenced on the construction of 57,758 individual household toilets and has been completed on 20,918.

Similarly, work has commenced on all 5,399 applications received for construction of community or public toilets, of which 1,639 have been completed.

It was also informed that 80 Urban Local Bodies have been divided into 15 clusters for solid waste management. These include three for waste-to-energy and 12 for waste-to- compost.
