Taking a dig at the US over its grand jury's decision not to indict a white policemen who killed a black teenager in Ferguson, China today said there is no perfect system when it comes to protection of human rights and all countries have to improve their records.
"I think many Chinese people have seen this report. We followed the court's ruling," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying told media, when asked that as a frequent receiver of the US' criticism of human rights record in China, what Beijing got to say about the criticism that jury's decision was miscarriage of justice.
"The case you mentioned is the US' internal affairs. As the spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry I will make no comment on it. But I would like to say that there is no such a thing as perfection when it comes to human rights regardless of whatever country you are in," she said.
"What we have to do is to improve the record of human rights and promote the cause of the human rights. We can learn from each other," she said.
The US every year issues reports on poor human rights record in China and is deeply critical of treatment meted out by Chinese government to the dissidents opposing the one-party system.
To counter this China has began issuing its own rights record of the US, highlighting the poor race relations and constant criticism of miscarriage of justice by African Americans.
