All India Bengali Literature Meet to begin on Dec 28

The three-day 87th Convention of Nikhil Bharat Banga Sahitya Sammelan (All India Bengali Literature Meet) will be held here from 28 December.

Around 1500 delegates from 120 branches of Sammelan from across the country will take part in the convention, which will be inaugurated by Harsh Dutt, Editor of Bengali magzine "Desh Patrika", National General Secretary of the Sammelan, Jayanta Ghosh, said.

Addressing a press conference here today, Ghosh said a few seminars on the language and journalism as well as cultural programmes were lined up during the meet.

Prasar Bharati's CEO Jawahar Sarkar, film and theatre personalities Gautam Ghosh and Kaushik Sen would also take part in the meet, which would also witness presence of renowned personalities from various field.
 

President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, who was the President of the Sammelan consecutively for twelve times and stepped down after becoming President, was scheduled to inaugurate the meet but postponed.
