Employees of the Central government hospitals and dispensaries, under the banner of the All India Health Employees & Workers Confederation, today held a nation-wide agitation against the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission.
Though the commission had announced a 16 per cent rise in the basic wages of the Group C employees, the hike was only 14.29 per cent, said Ramkishan, the general secretary of the Confederation.
Various category such as social worker, leprosy worker, assistant, animal supervisor, Para medical worker, cultural worker and mortuary staff were not mentioned in the 7th pay recommendation, he alleged.
"On January 16, the National Joint Council of Action submitted a memorandum to the Health Ministry in this regard. If government does not accept our demands we will be forced to go on indefinite strike," said a member of the Confederation.
